A while ago I read an article about faking refraction on Text logos by
using displacement maps. Has anyone done this correctly? I ALWAYS get
annoying render errors on the front face. This is what i do.
Use the text function ot make a font object
Extrude it
Name the front back and side faces
Triple object
cut the front and back faces and copy them to another layer
then i copy the front and back to the original layer.
I use a large displacement texture size..about 1.5x larger than the object
a low texture amplitude
and a fairly large wavelenght.
The ripple on my object was not very intense..and still it made errors..i
had shading angle set to 89.5 and even 120 degrees..still bad errors on
the front face....
Any ideas???? What fonts have been successfulllll???????????
